"Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times if only one remembers to turn on the light."
—JK Rowling
As a Licensed Social Worker, I am passionate about helping individuals heal from past trauma and build fulfilling lives. I specialize in supporting clients aged 18 and older, especially those navigating the challenges of anxiety, depression, and unresolved childhood or adolescent trauma. My approach centers around understanding each person's unique story and empowering them to move forward with resilience and strength.
Areas of Expertise
I bring a wealth of experience in:
Trauma Recovery: Guiding clients through the complexities of past trauma, including childhood and adolescent experiences.
Domestic Violence: Providing compassionate support for survivors, helping them rebuild trust and establish healthy relationships.
Anxiety and Depression: Working with clients to manage symptoms, reframe negative thinking, and cultivate self-compassion.
Women’s Issues: Including navigating the demands of being working mother and spouse, seeking work/life balances.
Bilingual Therapy: I learned Spanish and English at the same time and bring a natural comfort with either/both in my work with clients.
I am passionate about helping clients move beyond asking “what’s wrong with me,” towards finding real solutions to life’s challenges. In therapy I employ various therapeutic techniques, such as the "empty chair" method from drama therapy, which allows clients to process grief and close difficult chapters in their lives. By connecting past experiences to present behaviors, I help clients uncover patterns and motivations, fostering a deeper understanding of themselves.
Therapeutic Philosophy
I believe in honoring the dignity and worth of every individual, regardless of background or circumstances. My goal is to create a safe, non-judgmental space where clients feel empowered to explore their thoughts, emotions, and relationships. With an emphasis on social justice, I am committed to standing alongside my clients as they navigate personal growth and healing.
Personal Touch
Originally from a Hispanic background and fluent in both English and Spanish, I am deeply connected to diverse cultures and experiences. As a military spouse, I have embraced the flexibility and resilience required by frequent relocations, and I cherish every opportunity to meet people from different walks of life. When I'm not in the therapy room, I enjoy cooking, baking, and indulging in creative self-care through cross-stitch and diamond painting.
Let’s Begin Your Journey
Whether you’re seeking to overcome past trauma, manage anxiety and depression, or simply find a new perspective on life, I am here to help. Together, we can uncover your story, embrace healing, and turn on the light even in the darkest moments.
